Fall 2011 will be dedicated to drawing!

By request, I have decided to offer weekly drawing assignments to students currently enrolled in painting classes. These lessons will focus on the basic concepts of drawing and help you improve your ability to see. Feel free to try the lessons at home, or work on them in class this fall.

Suggested Materials:

Sketch book or pad (11 x 17 or larger)
Newsprint is okay, or you can get nicer drawing paper like Strathmore

Drawing Pencils (#2B, 4B, and 6B)

Charcoal Pencil (#4B)

Vine Charcoal (soft)

Conte Crayon (black or brown)

Pencil sharpener

Erasers (Kneaded eraser and white Staedler eraser)

1 piece of cardboard 12" x 15" (we will use this to make a viewing window)

1 piece black construction paper (or similar dark, cheap paper) 11" x 17"

Optional: smudge stick, more charcoal pencils (6B, 8B), and/or compressed charcoal sticks
